An urban indigenous man in his early twenties, Dave is an actor in Montreal. Adopted at the age of three, he grew up knowing nothing about his native culture. When he receives a photo of his birth mother in the mail - who he has never known - he sets out for Kinogamish, the community where he was born and where his mother Gertrude still lives.
The reunion does not go as planned and Dave, who has lost his bearings, is confronted with a hostile and foreign world. Deprived of his native culture, can Dave reclaim it? Like Hamlet, the Shakespearean hero he explores in his acting classes, Dave embarks on a true quest. His impromptu return to this devastated community will provoke upheavals and chain reactions, reviving a painful past marked by lies and secrecy.
